  • INKED!

    I FINALLY got my tattoooooo!

I went to the place today, called Abraixas, in Paris. The guys there are really nice, 2 of them even are American so I could ask them questions. I had a consultation with one of the artists about where to get it, ect. and he actually advised me to get it moved up my arm a bit and I actually decided myself to make it a little bigger than I had originally planned.
But, it turned out pretty much exactly how I wanted it so....
    here it is!!!!!

  • Monmarte, Scotland, and Family Weddings

So, my date last week was fun The guy took me to Monmarte, this really nice section of Paris where Sacre Coure is. The church (Sacre Coure) is on top of one of the highest hills in Paris so you can see EVERYTHING...and we were there at night it was SO beautiful. I'm not crazy about the guy, but he is really sweet and it was fun to see everything...

I just got back from a weekend trip to Dundee, Scotland, to see my best friend. We had SO MUCH FUN!!! I miss him SO much now!! I was there for 2 nights and 3 days, and I cooked dinner for him and all (5) of his roomates one night, and he cooked for me the other. I didn't do much sightseeing in Scotland, mainly because Friday I was too tired and he and I wanted to play catch up for a while...and we stayed up so late that saturday we wasted most of the day. By the time we got to the tattoo parlor they didn't have any other openings for the day, so I'm working on making an appointment at a place in Paris where a friend of mine got his done and hopefully I'll have it by the weekend! Then, saturday night we were too blasted off our asses to see straight, and at 3 AM we wandered down to this bakery in town to get some food, and we came back and somehow one of his roomates (who we had left, fully clothed on the couch) was butt naked sleeping where we left him...kind of awkward haha!!! But, it was fun none the less, it was nice to not have any responsibilities for the weekend...and hear ENGLISH! I love scottish accents...and my friend, who is irish, has the best accent EVER.
I started my french class today, which was really fun. I"m soooo excited to start learning, my teacher is a nut but in a good way and my class is only 10 people so it worked out really well.

I got some photos in the mail today from a family wedding that I missed because I was here, so that was a little bit of a downer. I'm super close with my family so it was hard to see them all having a blast celebrating my Aunt's wedding without me. But I'm so happy that the wedding was fun for everyone, even my grandmother went and its hard for her to get around now...

anyway, here are some pictures from the trip...

  • Walking with God

A friend of mine passed this story on to me. I'm not sure if it is true, but its one of those things that just makes you realize God is always walking with you...

A teenage girl about 17 had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year.
She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away.
As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger.
When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it.
However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her.
She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection.
Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her.
When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely.
The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there.
Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep.
Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station.
She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story.
The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him.
She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before.
When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed.
The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her.
She asked if they would ask the man one question.
Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her.
When the policeman asked him, he answered,

"Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her."

  • Text Messages, Married Men, and First Dates

I'll put on some more pictures at the end of this from the last few days of adventures in Paris! I've been soooo busy but its been a lot of fun. I'm going on a date tonight with this guy I REALLY like...and of course today I got a text from my ex asking when we can talk...and showing me his new tattoo that he got this weekend, which was my idea in the first place. Just leave it to him to make things more confusing at the perfect time!
So yes, my date tonight is with this guy from Norway who I met through my friend Erin, and unlike the few other days I've been on in the past week or so, this guy isn't at least 6 years older than me. Only 2 years, thank god. He says he has a really good suprise for me tonight and he hasn't told me where we're going for dinner either but he texted me a little while ago making sure there wasn't any kind of food I wouldn't eat...makes me a little bit nervous!
I went out early last week with this guy David, who I actually really started to like and went out with again a few days ago, until I found out he was MARRIED! he said he forgot to mention it since they're separated, but that freaked me out waaaaaaay too much! I haven't talked to him since, I'm definintely staying as far away from that as I can!
My mom's friend thought it was hysterical, and then went into this whole speech about how french men tend to have mistresses...which is funny because the President of France even has one! Talk about Culture shock!!!
Anyway, the other day I went to the Arc De Triomphe and went all the way up to the top, and me and my two friends who are also Au Pairs went to Versialles on sunday, which was GORGEOUS!! I want to go back in the spring when the gardens are actually blooming, but even though the leaves on things were starting to turn brown and dying and stuff it was still breath taking...

Lastly, I'm really really hoping to get my tattoo this weekend but I haven't been able to make any apointments at places in Scotland, so I'm going to have to call them the day before and try to. UGH!

  • 450 Euros later...

My life would be so much easier if the dollar wasn't weak. My dad is going to kill me.
He was the one who suggested I go get some winter clothes because the temperature in Paris is PLUMMETING...it usualy doesn't get below 60 until the end of October and its been getting down towards 50 every day this week. BRR
so My friend Harpa and I went on a shopping trip..tehehehe
It was worth it because I won't freeze to death, but now I'm tired AND broke...oh well

About Me

  • Hi! my name is Lisa, I'm an american studying abroad in Paris for a year. I'm really into sports and traveling, I read alot, I draw like crazy, and I'm a pretty laid back person. I'm using this blog to keep in touch with some people and kind of document my time as a non-french speaking american in PARIS!
